Professional Klargester BioDisc® BA-BE Treatment Plant Installation in Reading & Surrounding Areas
Our Klargester BioDisc® models have been designed to cater to homes without access to mains drainage. With over 65 years of expertise behind the engineering of this range, we have created a unit that offers silent operation, affordable running costs, no smell and a 7-year warranty (terms apply), providing you with confidence in the system performance.
As an authoritative Klargester installer, Drain Surgeons engineers off-grid wastewater solutions using industry-leading infrastructure. The Klargester BioDisc® domestic sewage treatment plant utilizes patented Rotating Biological Contactor (RBC) technology to provide silent, highly efficient effluent processing for properties lacking mains drainage access.
Operational Parameters of the BioDisc® Sewage System
A precision-engineered BioDisc® treatment plant is specifically designed to eliminate the common pain points of legacy septic tanks. By utilizing an automated RBC matrix rather than a standard, noisy aeration blower, the system guarantees virtually silent operation, zero atmospheric hydrogen sulfide emissions, and exceptionally low continuous electrical consumption.
Whether upgrading a standard residential property with a Klargester BioDisc® BA, or outfitting a large-scale domestic site with a Klargester BioDisc® BE, our deployment protocol ensures optimal hydraulic alignment. We manage all inlet/outlet pipework routing and control panel calibrations to ensure immediate, WRC-compliant biological functionality upon handover.

How it Works

PRIMARY SETTLEMENT TANK
Wastewater and sewerage flows into the primary settlement tank where the large solids are retained for future removal.

FIRST STAGE BIOLOGICAL TREATMENT
The liquor and fine solids then flow into the Biological Treatment Zone 1 where the first stage of treatment occurs.

SECOND STAGE BIOLOGICAL TREATMENT
The liquor is then fed forward at a controlled rate into Biological Treatment Zone 2 for further treatment.

FINAL SETTLEMENT TANK
The clean liquid passes into the final settlement tank where it can be discharged to ground or water course.

The Installation Process
We aim to make the installation of your new Klargester BioDisc sewerage treatment plant as seamless as possible. To aid in this process, we have created a step by step pictorial which shows each step and what you can expect while our groundwork team is on site.

Reviewing client requirements and identifying best options for the installation.

2 – Safety Plan
Site specific plan developed to cover site access, ground conditions, plant access, staff welfare facilities and client specific requirements.

3 – Pre start checks
We endeavor to minimize project risk by undertaking safety checks, CAT scan carried out to identify any existing buried services as the plans provided by utility companies are not always accurate.

4 – Project Implementation
Each project has a designated on site coordinator who is responsible for the project delivery and customer communication, updating the customer as the job progresses.

5 – Client Review

FAQs
1. What is the functional difference between the Klargester BioDisc BA and the BioDisc BE?
The distinction lies in their volumetric capacity and Population Equivalent (PE) rating. The Klargester BioDisc BA is designed for standard domestic applications, efficiently processing wastewater for up to 6 people. In contrast, the Klargester BioDisc BE is engineered for larger domestic or multi-occupancy properties, capable of managing the hydraulic load of up to 21 people.
2. How does a Klargester BioDisc domestic sewage treatment plant process raw effluent?
Unlike standard aeration plants that pump air into the water, a BioDisc treatment plant uses a Rotating Biological Contactor (RBC). This consists of banks of media discs mounted on a central shaft that slowly rotates. As the discs rotate, they expose the naturally occurring aerobic bacteria alternately to the raw effluent and to the atmospheric oxygen, accelerating the biological breakdown of the wastewater across two distinct internal treatment zones.
3. Why is it important to use a certified Klargester installer for my new tank?
Deploying a Klargester tank requires precise civil excavation, electrical routing, and control panel commissioning. Utilizing an uncertified contractor can void the manufacturer's 7-year warranty and risk improper hydraulic leveling, which prevents the RBC mechanism from functioning correctly. As certified installers, Drain Surgeons Group guarantees that your system is fitted strictly to Kingspan/Klargester’s technical specifications and complies fully with Environment Agency discharge laws.
